Do you know what a perennial plant is? It’s a plant that returns year after year bringing you blooms forever. They form the basis of most gardens and are added along with evergreens to fill your garden. It’s not just perennials at the sale this year. Our own tomato grower will be there sporting his collection of ‘must have’ tomato plants. Did you know our member grew 1500 tomato plants last year? Wow! Be sure to stop by and see his display.

You don’t have a garden? Do you live in a condo or townhouse? Well, we have the solutions for you. There are many excellent plants to use in containers. Don’t waste money on annuals only to have to replace them every year. Try planting your containers with perennials. Even better do a mix of both if you like. That way you can change it up with the seasons. Just look at the basket of beautiful flowers that were raffled last year. Be sure to enter this year.

The best part about the Evergreen Garden Club plant sale is that part of the proceeds are being donated back to the Delta Hospital. Come out and support this great fundraiser and get your garden geek on. I will be there to give advice so say hello. Bring your wagons, trays and a wheelbarrow if you need one. Come early for the best selection.

donation

Did you know the Evergreen Garden Club has been around in Delta since 1952? I can proudly say that’s before I was born. They have lots of community spirit. Last year they donated to the Ladner Community Garden. We are using their donation to add an arbor, fencing and drought resistant plants to the community garden. It’s a big help to support local charities. But Ladner is like that. Its small town BC and we all try to help each other wherever we can.

The Evergreen Garden Club meets on the third Tuesday of each month except July, August and December. They meet at Kin House in Ladner, next to the Ladner Pioneer Library. For all updates, check out our Facebook page here.
